VapoRub is an ointment used for symptomatic cough relief and nasal congestion in the cold and flu. It can be used directly on the skin (skin use) or diluted in hot water for inhalation of vapours.

PATIENT ADVICE
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using VapoRub:
*if hypersensitive to perfumes or solvents.
*if you have or have previously had seizures or epilepsy.
*if you have or have previously had diseases such as bronchial asthma, or other respiratory diseases or hypersensitivity.
*if you are pregnant or have an intetion to be pregnant.
Do not use VapoRub for more than 7 consecutive days or over large areas.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the medicine.
- [WOUNDS]. This medicine may result in dermal irritation, worsening the patient's situation in case of [DERMATITIS], [ULCERA CUTANEA] or [BURNS].
- Children under 6 years old.
DRIVING EFFECTS
VapoRub has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Pregnancy
VapoRub contains camphor in its composition, which crosses the placenta. It should not be used during pregnancy.
Indications
- [COMMON COLD]. Treatment of common cold and [GRIPE] symptoms, such as coughing and nasal congestion.
Breast feeding
VapoRub should not be applied to the mother's breast during the lactation period due to the theoretical risk of apnea reflex in the infant. It is not recommended for use.
Children
There is no experience with this medicine in children under six years of age so its use is not recommended.
Use in VapoRub children should always be supervised by an adult.
Dosage
- Adults and children over 6 years of age:
*Skin use
3 times a day: apply a thin layer to the chest, neck and back. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
Wear loose clothing to facilitate inhalation of vapours.
*Inhalation of vapours
10-15 minutes: Add a tablespoon of VapoRub in a bowl of hot (non-boiling) water and inhale.
This mixture should not be heated or overheated in the microwave. Children should always be under adult supervision during use.
Maximum duration of treatment: 7 days.
Precautions
Depending on the type of patient:
- History of [ASMA] or [LARINGEO SPASM]. In these patients, a spasm of the smooth musculature of the larynx, torachea and bronchi may occur.
- [EPILEPSIA]. The administration of essential oils has been associated with the appearance of seizures.
- Children under 7 years of age with a history of largeal spasm, [CONVULSIONES] and epilepsy.
Depending on your form of administration:
*Skin use:
- Do not apply to the skin with wounds or mucous membranes.
- Do not ingest or apply directly to the nostrils, eyes, mouth or face. External use.
- Do not apply too tight a bandage. Do not use a hot bandage or any heat.
*Inhalation use:
- Do not use boiling water to prepare inhalations.
- Do not heat or reheat the mixture in the microwave.
- Do not use in cold air vaporizers or humidifiers.
ADVERSE REACTIONS

No adverse reactions due to systemic exposure have been observed.
Overdose
Overdose can cause skin irritation.
Symptomatic treatment.
Do not induce vomiting in case of acute poisoning by accidental ingestion.
