Description

1. What is Ibustick and what is it used for

Ibuprofen, the active ingredient in this medicine, acts as a local analgesic and anti-inflammatory.

This medicine is indicated in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age for the relief of pain and mild and occasional inflammation caused by: small contusions, blows, strains (pulled muscles), torticollis (pain and stiff neck) or other contractures , lumbago (pain in the lower back) and minor sprains produced as a result of a strain.

2. What you need to know before you use Ibustick.

Do not use Ibustick:

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
  • If you have a sunburn in the affected area
  • If you have had allergic reactions caused by acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as:
    • Allergic reactions of the asthmatic type (difficulty breathing, choking, chest tightness and in some cases coughing or wheezing when breathing).
    • Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing (angioedema).
    • Other allergic reactions such as: rhinitis, itching or hives.

Warnings and cautions

  • It should not be used on mucous membranes, or on skin with wounds or eczema.
  • You should apply this medicine only to intact skin.
  • If you are asthmatic or allergic to any dye used in food or medicines (such as: yellow-orange, tartrazine, etc ...) you should consult your doctor before using this medicine.
  • You must avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.
  • The treated areas should not be exposed to the sun (even if it is cloudy), nor to ultraviolet lamps (UVA).
  • Do not use with occlusive bandages.
  • Do not apply the gel in large areas, or for a long time. Use exclusively on the affected area .
  • You should not simultaneously apply Ibuprofen Ibustick to the same area where other medications have been applied.

Special caution is recommended with Ibustick 50 mg / g gel.

Skin reactions

Serious skin reactions have been reported in association with Ibustick treatment. Stop using Ibustick and see a doctor immediately if you develop any skin rash, lesions on the mucous membranes, blisters, or other signs of allergy, as these may be the first signs of a very serious skin reaction. See section 4.

Use of other medications

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using or have recently used any other medicines, especially pain relievers, even those obtained without a prescription.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.

Pregnant or lactating women should not use this medicine without consulting their doctor or pharmacist.

Use in children

Do not use this medicine in children under 12 years of age, due to limited data in this population.

Driving and using machines

No effect on the ability to drive vehicles and use machinery has been reported when used externally on the skin .

3. How to use Ibustick.

Follow the administration instructions below exactly, unless your doctor has given you different ones. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have doubts.

This medicine is for cutaneous use (for application to the skin only).

The recommended dose is:

Adults and children over 12 years of age: apply a thin layer of the product to the painful area 3 to 4 times a day and massage gently with the roll-on applicator to facilitate penetration.

Wash your hands after each application. Do not use more than 7 days in a row.

If symptoms worsen or persist after 7 days of treatment, or irritation or redness of the area occurs, you should consult a doctor If you use more Ibustick than you should:

Due to external use, poisoning is unlikely. However, if you have used this medicine more than you should, or in case of accidental ingestion, go immediately to a medical center or call the Toxicology Information Service (Tel: 915 620 420), indicating the medicine and the amount taken. since it can occur: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, drowsiness, vertigo, spasms (cramps) and drop in blood pressure.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Ibustick can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.

You may experience the following side effects:

  • Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people): redness, itching and a burning sensation of the skin in the area of application, which disappear when the treatment is stopped.

  • Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people): dermatitis (inflammation of the skin) caused by the sun.

- Frequency 'not known' Red scaly generalized rash, with bumps under the skin and blisters, mainly on the skin folds, trunk and upper extremities, accompanied by fever at the beginning of treatment (acute generalized exanthematic pustulosis). Stop using Ibustick if you experience these symptoms and seek medical attention immediately. See also section 2. If you consider that any of the side effects you suffer is serious, or if you notice any side effect not mentioned in this leaflet, tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Communication of adverse effects

If you experience any kind of side effect , consult your doctor or pharmacist, even if it is about possible side effects that are not listed in this leaflet. You can also communicate them directly through the Spanish Pharmacovigilance System for Medicines for Human Use : www.notificaram.es . By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.

5. How to store Ibustick

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

It does not require any special storage conditions.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton, after EXP :. The expiration date is the last day of the month indicated.

Medicines must not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Deposit the containers and medicines that you do not need at the SIGRE Point of the pharmacy. If in doubt ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This way you will help to protect the environment.

6. Package contents and additional information

Composition of Ibustick

Each gram of gel contains 50 mg of ibuprofen as the active ingredient.

The other ingredients (excipients) are: 96 percent ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, hydroxyethylcellulose, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, caprylocaproyl macrogolglycerides, glycerol (E-422), sodium hydroxide (E-524) (10% aqueous solution) , Levo menthol, reflex scent (camphor, iso-menthone, L-mentone, borneol, methyl salicylate, BHT (E-321) and purified water.

What the product looks like and contents of the pack

This medicine is a clear, colorless gel with a reflex odor.

It comes in a bottle with a roll-on applicator that contains 30 or 60 grams of gel.
